In Practice Media is operated by David Florence in Westminster, Massachusetts. This policy covers this website and the Silas Gmail Helper, a private single-user application that runs on the operator’s own computer.

This website

This site is a static publication. It does not require an account, does not run advertising, and does not sell data. Pages are served through Cloudflare Pages, which processes standard request data such as IP address and user agent for delivery and abuse prevention.

Silas Gmail Helper and Google user data

The Silas Gmail Helper is a personal tool used by its author on his own Gmail account. It is not offered to other users and has no shared server component.

• What it accesses. With the gmail.modify scope it reads message metadata and content, lists labels, applies and removes labels, and moves threads to Trash. It cannot permanently delete mail and cannot send mail.
• Why. Sorting and triaging the operator’s own inbox, and summarising it for him in a daily briefing he alone reads.
• Where it goes. Nowhere. Data is fetched over HTTPS from Google’s API to a single computer, held locally, and never transmitted to any third party, model provider, advertiser, or other service. It is not used to train any model.
• Credentials. The OAuth refresh token is stored in a local file on that computer and is not committed to source control or shared.
• Retention and deletion. Locally cached mail data is retained only while useful to the operator and can be deleted at any time by removing the local files. Access can be revoked at any time from the Google Account permissions page, which immediately ends all access.

Use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
